MORE THAN 119 MILLION DOLLARS ARE EXPECTED IN PENDING DEALS DURING COLOMBIATEX DE LAS AMERICAS 2011, A 7% INCREMENT IN COMPARISON TO LAST YEAR




  • There was an increment of 26% on national buyers that came to the trade show, in comparison to 2010.


  • 14.200 attended to the Trade Show, representing an increment of 16% in comparison to 2010.


  • The number of foreigner that came to Medellín increased in 98% two days prior to the trade show Colombiatex.



January 27th 2011. Thanks to the significant statistics registered during the three days of Colombiatex de las Americas, the trade show positioned itself as the best scenario for business, and the most important trade show in Latin America. Colombiatex closed with more than 119 million US dollars in pending deals, a 7% increment more than 2010, where there were registered deals for 112 million dollars.


As part of the Proyect Medellín Ciudad Cluster, 16 international business groups and 14 national business groups were brought to the city as buyers, which by the end of the trade show had an expectations in deals of US$12.938.600 million dollars; from which US$11.817.700 million dollars were from international deals and US$1.122.900 were from national deals.


In regards on independent national and international buyers, thanks to the support of Inexmoda, EAFIT University and the Proyect Medellín Ciudad Cluster, there were closed deals for US$6.308.000 million dollars, and there are going to be US$ 11.430.000 in business deals for a year. These buyers said to be really satisfied with the trade show and assured their attendance to the next version of Colombiatex de las Américas 2012.


As part of the business groups brought by Proexport, there were more than 500 international buyers, from where there are expectations in deals for more than 88 million dollars.


In total there were in attendance buyers from more than 40 countries, highlighting the attendance of countries like: Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, United States, Mexico, Peru, Turkey, Venezuela and Russia.


In regards the admissions of foreigners two days prior to the trade show, we reached a total of 1.468 which translates in an increase of 98% in comparison to the same time lapse in 2010. In relation to the hotel occupancy the statistics show that there was an increment of 92% in comparison to the same time lapse last year, where it was 87%.


The Executive President of Inexmoda, Carlos Eduardo Botero, assured: “Colombiatex keeps consolidating itself as an important scenario in the creation of business deals between entrepreneurs and investors of the Textile/Manufacturing, Design and Fashion industry and we are sure that in Colombiamoda 2011, which is going to be held July 26 through 28, we will keep ratifying our compromise with the industry” said Botero Hoyos.


Entrepreneurs, one of the more satisfied


Álvaro Hincapié, CEO of Enka, assured: “It was the best version of all the others Colombiatex in which we have been a part of. You can really see all the work and effort of the management team. We are sure that the planned expansion of the 20% of the trade show will be full”


Adriana Pinillo, logistics manager of Venezuelan company Jeantex, assured that the company will return to the neighboring country with high expectations on business deals. “We already have some closed deals and some in process. Without a doubt Colombiatex is always a synonym of business”.




Knowledge Pavilion, another Inexmoda success


The Metropolitan Theater was full thanks to the positive response of College students, visitors and press media. At the end more than 16.000 people attended the Knowledge Pavilion, among them more than 1.000 of them from 10 different countries followed the conferences via internet and enjoyed during the three days of the trade show this knowledge opportunity scheduled during Colombiatex 2011 thanks to an association between Inexmoda and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, UPB.
